“my rosary beads are artillery bullets”
Collettivo Rosario
We are a collective of performer in the field of music, dance and theatre.
Our research is at the same time a concert, a dance performance, a theatrical show, a celebration of bodies.

The Roots
We come from the most diverse backgrounds - singing, music, dance, body music, theatre, Feldenkrais®, yoga, music therapy, pedagogy - and each of us has always looked at the world of education and teaching.

Rosario was born in 2019.
We met for the first time in Pontedera (PI), at Spazio NU, international center for the art of movement, which still supports the project and hosts us in our residential meetings.
Our common thread was Charles Raszl, guitarist, arranger, composer, dancer, arts educator, musical and theater director, and member of Barbatuques.

After getting to know each of us individually, he gave the vital impulse to the project, with the apparently utopian idea of creating a collective of people of different origins and training, yet united by that initial spark that was body music, in the desire to investigate its potential and its ramifications.
FIO AZUL - performance
“...A profound exploration of musical patterns, in which rhythm and melody become a carpet for the deployment of empathy entrusted to the sound code.” - Renzo Francabandera (Paneacquaculture)
Fio Azul is a ritual where bodies intertwine in a vocal, rhythmic and dance sense, in a story that has roots in popular culture and travels from Brazil to Southern Italy and Africa.
Fio Azul, before being a theatrical show or a body music concert, is first and foremost the celebration of beauty in its complexity. It is a danced prayer where fight and play, strength and kindness, the scent and thorns of the rose coexist.
Fio Azul tells the stories linked to the Mediterranean and its waters in music and dance with Fimmana de Mare and Creuza de Mä; celebrates Afro-Brazilian mythology, from the river goddess Oxum to the dark water warrior Obá, invoked by the Ogan Êre drums; embodies the witchcraft energy present in the Moresca del Gatto and the resilient and lunar strength of the Magara.
Fio Azul is a blue thread: its core is thin, apparently fragile, but by intertwining it becomes stronger, by joining other threads it can create a new plot. By grafting onto a surface, be it a stage, a lawn or asphalt, it is made of unexpected consistencies and shapes, it can connect one hemisphere to the other, connecting the vastness of the sky and the underground depths. It is a thread that accepts the transformation of time and is ready to unwind to change into something new.

Fio Azul is an offering, a party in which our only instruments are our bodies, from which singing, dancing and pulsation are born. Each body enters into relationship with the other, in a continuous exercise of encounter: harmony, rhythmic fabric, collective movement, also in relation to the public.
With each performance, Fio Azul takes shape in a fertile dialogue with the environment, the times and the energy of the place and the people who pass through it. It has a flexible form in terms of space, duration, setup, interaction with the public, like a rose that is reborn every time fresh and vital, in an ever new garden.
Fio Azul has been presented in various festivals and contexts including: Body Rhythm Festival in Hamburg (DE) in 2025; Festival Opera Prima in Rovigo in 2024 and 2022; Musicultura in Macerata in 2023; Festival Voci Audaci of Losone (CH) in 2023; Circular Music Festival in Trevi (PG) in 2019; Entroterre Festival in Bologna in 2023; Spazio NU of Pontedera (PI) in 2019, 2022, 2024; Festival Inventaria of Rome (2022); Teatro Capovolto of Trento in 2023; CorpInFesta – Body Music and Dance Festival in Rovereto (TN) in 2023 and 2025.
Why Rosario: the declinations
Rosario, which in Brazilian also means "crown of roses", is a living organism that has roots in the territory of birth of each of its components and branches that grow intertwining in the most diverse places. A tenacious plant, it welcomes its thorns as an inevitable part of the whole in order to honor every flower that makes it up.
The rosary it is a necklace of beads and in many places in the world it is a guiding object for meditating and directing oneself into depth and presence. Rosary connects different ways and worlds and is a circle in which the presence of each bead is necessary to feel the union. In the Collective, as in the Rosary, we count and sing.
“The beads of my rosary are artillery shells”
This is the dancing manifesto of the Collettivo Rosario. Making art is awakening dormant and essential knowledge for the movement of life (dreams, ancestrality). It is carrying on a gentle struggle through beauty, therefore with ethics and aesthetics, to create and offer new perspectives.
The current situation in the part of the world in which we live sees a society marked by consumerism, profit and exploitation, at a speed that mows down dialogue and sedimentation. It is on this impoverished soil that we grow our rose garden. We carry out a stubborn and confident search to carve out an unassailable space of beauty and depth through practices and reflections oriented towards the care of collective processes, joy, vitality and well-being.
The dance, the voices and our bodies playing rhythmically are our prayers.
Our prayers are also our ammunition.
